In celebration of our exhibition\u00a0Shtetl in the Sun<\/em>, please join us for a screening of the documentary\u00a0The Last Resort<\/em>\u00a0(2018) at Cin\u00e9ma Moderne.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Directed by Dennis Scholl and Kareem Tabsch,\u00a0The Last Resort\u00a0<\/em>highlights the transformation of South Beach, Miami between the 1960s and 1980s. Featuring photographs by Andy Sweet, whose work is also shown in\u00a0our ongoing exhibition\u00a0Shtetl in the Sun<\/em><\/a>, this film explores South Beach when it existed as a retirement community, populated largely by working and lower middle class Jewish retirees.<\/p>\n

In-film interviews and commentary are provided by Susan Gladstone, Director of the\u00a0Jewish Museum of Florida, acclaimed filmmaker\u00a0Kelly Reichardt, among many others.<\/p>\n
