By offering this program and funding, we hope to give applicants the chance to pursue their interests and realize their ideas while encouraging intellectual curiosity and community-building. Seed-funding awarded will be $1400 to $1500 per project, in addition to a $500 honorarium for participation in the seminar series. See below for details.<\/p>\n<p>Selected candidates will participate as the seventh cohort in our seminar series, with sessions focusing on professional skills development, and exploring contemporary Jewish arts and culture. The seminar series will consist of nine 2-hour sessions that will take place on Tuesdays, from November 2026 through January 2027. In addition, cohort members will be expected to attend 2-3 cultural field trips between November 2026 to April 2027 intended to build on experience and inspiration for their projects. Past examples of these include a workshop on using the Jewish Public Library Archives, an MJM walking tour of the Plateau, and a private tour of an exhibition at the McCord Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Microgrant projects may be presented as <strong>Public Events<\/strong>, (i.e., creative workshops, concerts, book launches), or as <strong>Public Projects <\/strong>(i.e., essays, research articles, oral history collections). Projects will be presented from February to June 2027.* Public Projects should ideally engage with the community in some way during their development (i.e., discussion groups, reading circles, interviews). In the application form, applicants will be asked to select whether their project will be presented as a Public Event or Public Project. All participants will be part of the cohort, and receive development and production support from MJM staff.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for projects from each of the following areas: food, art, and culture\/heritage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Though not limited to the following, projects may include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Small printed publications\/zines\/chapbooks<\/li>\n<li>Research projects or articles<\/li>\n<li>Creative workshops<\/li>\n<li>Presentations: Book readings, lectures, concerts, performances<\/li>\n<li>A website, blog or social media account (Instagram, TikTok)<\/li>\n<li>A personal\/family exploration project, to be presented in a format of choice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/museejuifmontreal.ca\/en\/microgrants\/\"><strong>View past examples of Microgrant Projects.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All applicants currently living in Montr\u00e9al are invited to apply as individuals or in small groups (up to 3 people) for creative projects at any stage of development. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, however proposed projects must relate to Jewish culture or identity.\u00a0Successful applicants must be available to attend designated in-person seminar sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants of all ages are welcome to apply, though priority will be given to those aged 18-35 with multifaceted and intersectional identities (these could include, but are in no way limited to: members of racialized communities, newcomers, those from interfaith backgrounds, people with disabilities, LGBTQ2+, and gender non-conforming persons). We do not accept project proposals towards: 1) An academic course or class credit, 2) The applicant\u2019s workplace or other organization in which the applicant is involved, 3) Operational funding for a business or organization, or 4) Charitable organizations.<\/p>\n<p>MJM will be following the <a href=\"https:\/\/canadacouncil.ca\/funding\/resources\/guidance-on-ai-in-grant-applications\">Canada Council for the Arts\u2019 Guidance on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Grant Applications<\/a><em>.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>We kindly ask all applicants review this document prior to completing their grant application, especially points 1), 2), and 3) on the use of AI in preparing an application, and its use in proposed projects.<\/p>\n<p>MJM will also be following the <a href=\"https:\/\/canadacouncil.ca\/funding\/resources\/guidance-on-genai-in-assessing-grant-applications\">Canada Council for the Arts\u2019 Guidance on the Use of Generative AI in the Assessment of Grant Applications<\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>in reviewing, jurying, and selecting Microgrant applications.
